Living Waters Messianic Fellowship
believes:
The Scriptures of the Hebrew Bible [Old Testament or Tanah] and the
New Testament were given by inspiration of God, and are the inerrant,
infallible and sufficient word of God and are our only authoritative rule of
faith and practice. 2Timothy 3:15-17, Isaiah 8:20, Luke 16:29,30,
Ephesians 2:20, Hebrews 1:1.
There is only one God, the Maker, Preserver and Ruler of all things,
having in and of Himself all perfections, and being infinite in them all. To
Him all creatures owe the highest love, reverence and obedience.
Deuteronomy 6:4, 1Corinthians 8:4,6, 1Thessalonians 1:9, Jeremiah 10:10, Job
11:7-9.
There are three distinct persons in the Godhead: Father, Son and Holy
Spirit. Matthew 3:16-17; 28:19, 2Corinthians 13:14, John 1:14, 18; 15:26,
Galatians 4:6, Hebrews 1:2, Genesis 1:2.
God created all things perfect from nothing. Adam and Eve were
originally created by God after His own image in perfect righteousness.
Genesis 1:1, 26, Hebrews 11:3, Colossians 1:16, Acts 17:24.
Adam & Eve, through Satan's temptation, broke God's commandment, and
fell from their original righteousness. All their descendants fell with
them, and as a result have inherited a corrupt nature and are guilty before
God. From this corrupt nature proceed all actual transgressions of the law
of God. By reason of this fall, men and women are unable of themselves to
please God. Genesis 2:17,3:6-8,13,23, Psalm 51:5, Romans 3:10-18,23,
5:12, Genesis 6:5, Romans 7:14, 17-18, 8:7.
Jesus (Yeshua), the Divine Messiah is the only begotten Son of God
and is the divinely appointed Mediator between God and man. Having taken
upon Himself human nature, yet without sin, He perfectly fulfilled the law
[Torah], suffered, and died upon the cross for the salvation of sinners. He
was buried, rose again the third day, and ascended to the Father, at whose
right hand He ever lives to make intercession for His people. He is the only
Mediator, the Prophet, Priest and King of His people, and Sovereign of the
universe. Isaiah 42:1, John 3:16, 1Timothy 2:5, Acts 3:22, Hebrews 5:5-6,
Luke 1:33, Ephesians 5:23, Galatians 4:4, Hebrews 4:15, Colossians 2:9.
Regeneration is the implanting of spiritual life by the Holy Spirit.
God calls us into fellowship with Messiah Jesus by His Word and His Holy
Spirit, our minds being spiritually enlightened and our wills and affections
being renewed. 1Peter 1:23, 2:9, James 1:18, Ephesians 2:4-5, Galatians
6:15, 2Corinthians 5:17, Romans 6:1.
Repentance is a saving grace in which the repentant person is
convicted of his sinfulness by the Holy Spirit, and then humbles himself,
showing godly sorrow, hatred of sin, and a willingness to walk before God so
as to please Him in all things. Job 42:6, Psalm 51:4-9, Romans 3:20.
Faith is a saving grace, by which we receive and rest upon Messiah
Jesus alone for salvation as He is freely offered to us in the Gospel.
John 7:38, 1Corinthians 2:5-12, Galatians 2:16.
Justification is an act of God's free grace, by which He pardons our
sins, and accounts us righteous. This is not based on anything we have done,
but only on the righteousness of Messiah imputed to us and received by faith
alone. Once justified, we are adopted into the family of God. Romans
3:24; 4:5; 8:30, Titus 3:5, Ephesians 1:5; 2:8, Galatians 4:5, John 1:12.
Sanctification happens to those who are united to Messiah Jesus and
are renewed in their whole nature after the image of God. It is a
progressive work of the Holy Spirit, who dwells in all believers. We are
thus enabled to pursue a life of holiness in obedience to all the commands
of Messiah, though never attaining to perfection in this life.
1Corinthians 6:11, 1Thessalonians 5:23, 2Thessalonians 2:13, Titus 2:14,
Hebrews 13:21, Romans 7:14-25, Hebrews 12:14.
The Last Things
We believe in the visible, personal and bodily return of our Messiah the
Lord Jesus. Matthew 16:27; 24:30; 25:31; 26:64, Mark 8:38, Luke
21:27, Rev 1:7, Matthew 24:36.
The bodies of men and women return to dust after death, but the bodies
of all the dead, both just and unjust, will be raised at the judgment
seat of Messiah. Rev. 20, John 5:21-27, 1Corinthians 15:51-52,
2Corinthians 5:10.
God has appointed a day in which He will judge the world by Messiah
Jesus. The wicked will go into everlasting punishment in hell with the
devil and his angels. The righteous, with glorified bodies, will live
and reign with Messiah for ever. Matthew 5:8, 2Corinthians 3:18,
Revelation 3:21, 2Timothy 2:11-12, John 3:36, Matthew 25:41,
2Thessalonians 1:9, Revelation 21:8.
God in His mercy, grace and faithfulness has ordained that His purposes
with His ancient people the Jews are not finished with nor transferred
to another people. The new covenant will not be complete until it
embraces the people of the old covenant (Romans 11:26). Romans 9-11.
